Environmental Choice and ACCS Environmental Certification Scheme
In the early 1990’s Feltex Carpets realised that they not only had a responsibility to offer consumers high quality floor covering solutions, but they also had a responsibility to care for the Environment in which we all live.
ENVIRONMENTAL CHOICE 
The company had a clear vision to become an Environmental Choice supplier to the building industry. Environmental Choice is the official eco-labelling programme in New Zealand, which operates independently from the Government, but the label is Government owned and endorsed.
In March 1994 Feltex Carpets was the first manufacturer in Australasia to become an Environmental Choice licensed supplier for the manufacture of Wool Pile and Wool-Rich Pile Carpets, which demonstrates the company’s long-standing commitment to minimise their impact on the environment in terms of materials used, water conserved, energy consumed, waste produced and discharged, and emissions.
AUSTRALIAN CARPET CLASSIFICATION - ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATION SCHEME
In recent years the Australian Carpet Classification Scheme (ACCS) has certified a range of Feltex carpets under their Environmental Ceritification Scheme. Under this scheme, textile floor coverings are classified by an independent Panel of experts in accordance with the ACCS Technical Guidelines.
Product ranges which feature Environmental Choice and/or ACCS Environmental Certification are eligible to earn points under the Green Star NZ rating tool.
ISO 14001:2004 CERTIFICATION
Feltex Carpets New Zealand and Australian made product ranges are manufactured under ISO 14001:2004 certification. The internationally recognised ISO 14001 standard sets out requirements for an environmental management system which has enabled Feltex Carpets to measure and document how the company can reduce its environmental impact.
